Why this camp
The BAF Camp is a space to meet, organize and bolster our struggles. It starts from an observation: our rights are declining, repression is increasing and our movements are fragmented.
The objective of the BAF camp is to create links between collectives, share practices and build strong and lasting alliances, while maintaining lively and accessible spaces.
What we are trying to do
Connections
Create bridges between struggles and territories (Brussels, Wallonia, Flanders).
Spotlight
Showcase local and international struggles.
Get organized
Share strategies, debate and find common ground.
Positioning
The camp is part of social, anti-fascist, ecological, peasant, feminist, anti-racist, anti-imperialism, decolonial, anti-validist and queer struggles. It is based on an anti-authoritarian approach and seeks to limit relationships of domination, including internally.
- Refusal of oppression (racism, sexism, validism, classism, LGBTQIA+phobias, etc.)
- Pay attention to power relations in discussions
- Those concerned by an issue are put centre stage
- No emphasis on a particular organization or ideology
Collective operation
The camp is self-managed and based on active participation. It operates through working groups and decisions taken collectively.
- Horizontal organization based on consensual decision making
- Everyone participates through volunteer shifts during the camp
- Openness to new people and groups
Basic framework
The camp is not a guaranteed “safe” space, but a space where we try to build conditions of respect and listening.
- Respect for others and their experiences
- Consent (when talking to others, taking photos, physical contact...)
- Refusal of violent or manipulative behavior
- Take your share of responsibility in the event of conflict
A team dedicated to care and conflict management will be present during the camp.
Accessibility & inclusion
Work is being carried out to make the camp accessible to as many people as possible, even if everything cannot be perfect.
- Interpretation into French, Dutch and English as much as possible
- Pay attention to specific needs (food, accessibility, etc.)
- Intentionally diverse spaces (e.g. womxn only activities)
- Working with relevant groups in the run up to the festival
Complete charter
